UAE Stands With Lebanon Campaign Launches With 200 Tonnes Of Aid For Humanitarian Relief
The UAE has initiated the "UAE Stands with Lebanon" campaign, dispatching 200 tonnes of aid in 10,000 relief packages. This effort involves 4,000 volunteers and aims to alleviate Lebanon's humanitarian crisis. The initiative underscores the UAE's commitment to supporting Lebanon during these challenging times.
Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organizations, stated that the campaign reflects the UAE's humanitarian values. He said, "Embodying the UAE’s humanitarian principles and its deep-rooted fraternal values that call for solidarity and cooperation, we extend a helping hand to provide aid and relief to all those impacted by wars and conflicts. Our wise leadership’s urgent response addresses Lebanon’s difficult circumstances and meets their critical needs."

The UAE's rapid response began with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan directing US$100 million in aid to Lebanon. Additionally, US$30 million was allocated for urgent relief packages to Lebanese citizens displaced in Syria. These actions highlight the UAE's dedication to providing timely assistance.
Al Shamsi emphasized that this campaign showcases the unity of UAE society with Lebanon. He added, "The ‘UAE Stands with Lebanon’ campaign affirms the solidarity of all parts of UAE society with the Lebanese people, and continuously works to provide relief to those in need, including the injured and wounded. This national campaign carries a message of hope and solidarity with the Lebanese people."
Since October 4th, nine aircraft have been sent by the UAE in collaboration with international partners like WHO, UNICEF, UNHCR, and IFRC. These flights carried 375 tonnes of essential supplies such as food and shelter materials to Lebanon. More humanitarian flights are planned in the coming days.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also contributed by directing urgent aid through Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). This aid aims to benefit 250,000 people in Lebanon during these difficult times.
Campaign Launch Events
The campaign officially started on Saturday, October 12th, 2024 at Expo City Dubai from 09:00 to 13:00. Additional events are scheduled for Sunday at Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal under Emirates Red Crescent supervision. Future events are planned across other emirates as well.
The UAE's initiatives demonstrate its global leadership in providing relief and support for Lebanon. This reflects a longstanding tradition of aiding the Lebanese people during crises.
