UAE Establishes Itself As A Leading Soft Power Under Mohamed Bin Zayed’s Vision

Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, highlighted the nation's growing influence under His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He noted that the UAE has become a significant soft power, shaping regional and global futures through a policy that balances steadfast principles with strategic resilience in addressing global challenges.

Gargash elaborated on the UAE's foreign policy, which uses its economic strength to support politics, peace, and stability. The country aims to build balanced relationships with global powers based on shared interests and mutual respect. The UAE seeks to establish a multilateral international network to enhance its positive impact on global issues.

During the keynote session titled ‘The Geopolitical Scene and the UAE's Global Narrative’ at the UAE Government Annual Meetings 2025, Gargash outlined the country's narrative. He stated: "The UAE’s global narrative is based on three main pillars: Promoting peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy; driving sustainable development through economic and tech partnerships; and instilling the values of human solidarity, tolerance and cultural openness as elements of the UAE national identity."

He emphasized that under visionary leadership, the UAE is achieving more locally and globally. The nation aims to strengthen its standing and increase its influence by trusting its people and focusing on growth, prosperity, and stability. This approach has made it a trusted partner in addressing pressing global challenges.

The world is experiencing significant geopolitical changes, including shifts in power centres, alliance patterns, and transnational challenges like pandemics and climate change. Gargash noted these dynamics are reshaping nations' structures, sovereign decisions, and governance nature. Amidst this backdrop, the UAE stands out for its clear vision, adaptability, preparedness, and influential capacity.

Gargash highlighted that the UAE's mission is rooted in leveraging these global shifts to advance human development while sustaining prosperity and reinforcing peace both regionally and globally. This mission is driven by a commitment to using these changes for positive outcomes.

Humanitarian Efforts

The UAE has played a leading role in humanitarian efforts worldwide. Gargash mentioned that true security involves development, education, and community empowerment rather than relying solely on power. The nation has become a key player in the global humanitarian ecosystem through mediation efforts, aid distribution, and development initiatives.

The UAE's mediation between Russia and Ukraine resulted in 17 successful mediations leading to 4,641 captives being exchanged. Additionally, over two years, USD 2.57 billion was provided in aid to alleviate Palestinian suffering in Gaza.

Gargash concluded by affirming that technological advances will reshape nations profoundly. These changes will affect sovereign decisions and governance structures significantly. The UAE remains committed to adapting to these advancements while maintaining its focus on peace and prosperity.
