UAE Sends Relief Aid To Philippines In Wake Of Typhoon Carina Devastation

In line with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's directives, the UAE has sent relief aid to the Philippines. This action is part of the UAE's ongoing humanitarian efforts to assist nations in times of crisis. The aid comes in response to Typhoon Carina, which caused landslides and floods, resulting in fatalities and significant property damage.

Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, highlighted the UAE leadership’s dedication to providing urgent humanitarian assistance globally. She stated, "The directives of His Highness the UAE President to dispatch aid to the Philippines demonstrate the dedication of the UAE to the values of solidarity and partnership, as well as its continuous commitment to extending a helping hand to provide humanitarian aid during crises and natural disasters."

The dispatched aid aims to support rescue efforts and enhance international cooperation in disaster response. It underscores the UAE's commitment to standing with affected communities and offering necessary assistance during such emergencies.

Al Hashimy also emphasised that this initiative reflects the UAE’s solidarity with the Filipino people in facing the aftermath of Typhoon Carina. She noted that it shows appreciation for the Filipino community residing in the UAE, who play a significant role in the country's development and growth.

Furthermore, she highlighted the historic and strong bilateral relations between the UAE and the Philippines. The support provided by the UAE during this disaster reaffirms these deep-rooted ties.

Relief Efforts and Aid Distribution

The relief efforts are designed to address urgent needs arising from the natural disaster. The typhoon led to multiple deaths and displaced thousands of people now living in temporary evacuation centres. The aid shipment included essential items such as food supplies, shelter materials, and medical equipment.

The arrival of this aid targets regions severely affected by Typhoon Carina, including Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Central Luzon, and Bangsamoro. These areas experienced significant impact from landslides and floods caused by the typhoon.
