UAE School Games Football Competition Showcases Young Talent And Sports Development Efforts
Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, recently attended the football segment of the UAE School Games' second edition. He observed the competitive spirit among student teams from various emirates. This championship supports the UAE's national goals to boost school sports, discover young talents, and fulfil the country's sports ambitions.
The UAE Sports Federation for School and University Education Institutions organises this event with support from the Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Education, UAE National Olympic Committee, and other sports federations. This collaboration aims to develop school sports and ensure the event's success.

Dr. Al Falasi praised the exceptional talents displayed at the event. He emphasised that schools are vital in nurturing national sports talents and developing future Olympic champions. "Schools are the key incubators of national sports talents and the foundation for developing Olympic champions who can win titles and championships while raising the national flag at major global sports events," he stated.
The championship has seen significant participation from male and female students in seven sports: jiu-jitsu, laser shooting, judo, athletics, badminton, archery, and football. The upcoming phase will introduce competitions in swimming, fencing, taekwondo, table tennis, and chess. Winners will advance to finals set for May 2025.
Football matches are ongoing at UAE Football Association stadiums in Al Khawaneej, Dubai. These games foster high-level competition under experienced officials' guidance. School teams nationwide showcase their talent and determination here.

Dr. Al Falasi highlighted how this championship aligns with the National Sports Strategy 2031 objectives. "The UAE School Games is a crucial platform for realising the objectives of the National Sports Strategy 2031," he noted.
The event aims to increase professional Emirati athletes and cultivate skilled Olympic champions. It fosters an inclusive environment supporting all students while promoting physical activity within society.
Promoting a Healthy Society
The championship aligns with 'Year of Community' goals as per leadership directives to develop a healthy society capable of achieving remarkable accomplishments. Dr. Al Falasi remarked on its ongoing success due to strong student engagement across various sports.
"This championship represents a major advancement in enhancing the UAE’s sports sector by cultivating a comprehensive ecosystem that identifies, nurtures, and empowers athletic talents," he added.
