UAE And Romania Advance Economic And Trade Relations In Latest Ministerial Meeting
The third Ministerial meeting of the UAE-Romania Joint Committee recently unfolded at the Romanian Parliament Palace in Bucharest, marking a significant step forward in the bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and Romania. The UAE delegation was spearheaded by Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Head of the Office of International Affairs at the Presidential Court. Romania's representation came from Marcel Ciolacu, Prime Minister, alongside Sorin Grindeanu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.
Prime Minister Ciolacu extended a heartfelt welcome to Almheiri and her delegation, lauding the strong economic, trade, and investment ties that bind the UAE and Romania. He underscored the UAE's pivotal role as a key partner for Romania in the region and spotlighted the mutual ambition of both nations to deepen their bilateral relations for their peoples' prosperity. The meeting also saw participation from Sultan Mohamed Al Ali, UAE Ambassador to Romania, senior officials from various UAE government entities, and representatives from the private sector and business communities of both countries.
Discussions during the meeting revolved around bolstering cooperation across several crucial sectors including tourism, education, scientific research, health, industry, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), renewable energy, civil aviation, agriculture, and food security. A significant emphasis was placed on exploring investment cooperation and opportunities within the Romanian market, with an invitation extended to UAE companies and funds to invest.
Almheiri praised the robustness and depth of the UAE-Romania bilateral relations, highlighting a forward-focused vision built on trust and long-term cooperation foundations. She stressed the importance of fostering trade exchanges and establishing strong partnerships across diverse sectors, especially in SMEs. Almheiri pointed out the wide array of investment opportunities available, encouraging UAE business owners and investors to delve into new prospects in trade, energy, renewable energy, technology, agriculture, transportation, logistics services, tourism, knowledge exchange, and cybersecurity.
The commitment to developing significant initiatives and partnerships to boost joint endeavors was reaffirmed by Almheiri. She emphasized overcoming challenges and ensuring tangible results for both nations and their peoples. The meeting concluded with a significant stride towards enhancing economic cooperation: the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Romania. This memorandum was signed by Humaid Mohamed ben Salem, Secretary-General of the Federation, and Bogdan Visan, Deputy General Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania.
Following these discussions, a dinner hosted by Al Ali at the UAE Embassy provided a platform for Almheiri to engage with UAE business owners and investors about investment projects and new opportunities that emerged from the Joint Committee meeting. This event underscored the commitment of both nations to not only continue but also expand their partnership across various sectors for mutual benefit.
