UAE Contributes To Strengthening Labour Cooperation At GCC Meeting In Doha

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), recently attended the 10th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Labour Ministers Committee in Doha, Qatar. The event saw participation from Labour Ministers of GCC countries and Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, GCC Secretary-General.

During the meeting, Dr. Al Awar reiterated the UAE's dedication to such gatherings. He highlighted their importance in fostering regional cooperation, addressing common challenges amid global changes, and developing a unified vision on labour-related issues.

UAE's Role in GCC Labour Meet

He stressed that these meetings are crucial for knowledge-sharing and exchanging best practices among nations. This collaboration aims to align labour policies across GCC countries, enhancing their labour markets' competitiveness and productivity globally.

The meeting covered various topics including progress in the private sector and outcomes of strategic initiatives by the GCC Labour Ministers Committee. Discussions also included the United Nations' Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and maternity leave regulations in GCC states.

On the sidelines, Dr. Al Awar attended a ceremony honouring companies excelling in localisation efforts and entrepreneurs behind notable small businesses in GCC countries. Kawader Human Resources Consultancy LLC and Burjeel Holdings were recognised for leading Emiratisation efforts in the UAE, while Meerana Technologies was honoured as the best small business in the country.

Engagement with Qatari Leadership

Dr. Al Awar also met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, alongside other participating ministers. This engagement further underscored the collaborative spirit among GCC nations.

The UAE delegation included Shayma Al Awadhi, Assistant Undersecretary for Communication and International Relations; Ahmad Al Nasser, Assistant Undersecretary of National Human Resources Development and Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Policy and Strategy; along with several Ministry officials.

The meeting served as a platform to discuss advancements in various sectors within GCC countries. It also provided an opportunity to review strategic initiatives aimed at improving labour markets across the region.
