UAE Launches Comprehensive Model To Combat Digital And Gender-Based Violence Against Women
The UAE has introduced a new model to tackle digital violence and violence against women and girls. This was announced during the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. The initiative demonstrates the UAE's dedication to women's rights and gender equality on a global scale.
The guide includes 35 legislative frameworks aimed at combating domestic and digital violence. It also features 46 awareness policies, initiatives, and programs developed with 22 national institutions. These efforts are complemented by international agreements that support women's rights and protective measures.

The UAE's model is recognized as a comprehensive global reference for addressing digital violence. It supports sustainable social and economic development by providing a blueprint for other nations. The guide highlights the UAE’s commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 5: Gender Equality.
Lieutenant Colonel Dana Humaid Al Marzouqi from the Ministry of Interior stated, "Guided by the foresight of its leadership, the UAE has embraced a progressive vision grounded in tolerance, justice, and equality." This vision has helped position the UAE as a leader in safeguarding society, particularly women and girls in digital spaces.
Hanan Mansour Ahli from the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre emphasized that empowerment extends beyond legislation. She noted that creating a secure environment is crucial for fostering women's ambitions. "The UAE’s global leadership in 30 competitiveness indicators related to women’s empowerment reflects our success," she added.
The guide underscores national efforts to enhance legal frameworks aligned with digital transformation. It stresses collaboration between public, private sectors, and international organizations to ensure safety for women against digital violence.
International Agreements and National Achievements
The guide also highlights national institutions' roles in implementing policies and training programs against violence towards women. It emphasizes adherence to international agreements like CEDAW and the Beijing Declaration, which serve as benchmarks for protecting women's rights globally.
The trust placed in women by UAE leadership is evident through their achievements in education, healthcare, business, innovation, and leadership roles. This empowerment significantly contributes to economic growth and strengthens the UAE's global standing.
Commitment to Global Standards
The country leads in 30 global competitiveness indicators related to women, ranks first regionally in 38 indicators, and places among the top 10 globally in 34 indicators. This solidifies its position as a pioneering model for women's empowerment internationally.
