UAE Achieves Third Place Globally For Humanitarian Aid Contributions In 2025 With US$1.46 Billion
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been recognised as the third-largest donor of humanitarian aid globally for 2025. This ranking comes from data published by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) through its Financial Tracking Service (FTS). The UAE's contributions reflect its ongoing commitment to global humanitarian efforts.
H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, highlighted the UAE's dedication to humanitarian causes. He stated that under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership, the UAE continues to excel in humanitarian and development fields.
The UAE's approach is deeply rooted in its mission and values, focusing on assistance, solidarity, cooperation, and sustainable development. These efforts aim to benefit people worldwide, irrespective of their origin, race, religion, belief, or geography. The FTS classification showed that in 2025, the UAE contributed US$1.46 billion in humanitarian aid.
This contribution represents 7.2% of all aid recorded by the United Nations, with global contributions totalling US$20.28 billion. The UAE ranks third worldwide in this regard, following only the United States and the European Union.
Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed emphasised that the UAE swiftly responds to global crises, natural disasters, and emergencies. This proactive approach helps alleviate suffering in affected communities. He noted that this reflects the enduring legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The visionary direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and guidance from His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan further support these efforts. The UAE’s aid initiatives embody an ethos shared by its leadership and citizens.
Comprehensive Support Initiatives
The UAE provides essential relief such as food, medicine, shelter, and clothing to vulnerable communities. Beyond immediate relief efforts, it implements medium- and long-term projects across sectors like healthcare, education, energy, and infrastructure.
These initiatives aim to support early recovery and sustainable development in affected areas. The UAE’s foreign aid aligns with its ninth "50 Principles", which highlights humanitarian assistance as a core component of national identity.
This principle underscores an ethical responsibility towards less fortunate communities worldwide. Through these comprehensive support initiatives, the UAE continues to play a vital role in global humanitarian efforts.
