UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Celebrated For Championing Global Peace And Coexistence
The Union Association for Human Rights (UAHR) recently praised President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his pivotal role in fostering peace and coexistence on a global scale. Dr. Fatima Khalifa Al Kaabi, President of the UAHR, highlighted His Highness' contributions during the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. The session focused on combating racism and racial discrimination, aligning with the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action's objectives.
One of the significant milestones mentioned was the UN General Assembly's unanimous decision, supported by 34 countries, to mark February 4th as the International Day of Human Fraternity. This date commemorates the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together by His Eminence the Grand Imam, Professor Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and His Holiness Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi in 2019, an event presided over by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Dr. Al Kaabi emphasized the critical need to address racism and racial discrimination actively. She called for promoting tolerance, coexistence, and rejecting hate speech while assessing states' commitment to these ideals and their progress. The UAHR urged the UN Human Rights Council to enhance global efforts to eliminate racism and its associated forms of intolerance.
The UAE's approach to promoting peace, tolerance, and cultural diversity was underscored as a model worth emulating. With over 200 nationalities living together in harmony, the UAE exemplifies justice, equality, and fair opportunities for all. Its vision of establishing a world characterized by peace, tolerance, and human coexistence aims at creating an environment where justice and equality prevail without discrimination.
This recognition by the UAHR not only underscores the UAE's leadership in advocating for human rights but also reaffirms its commitment to building a more inclusive world. Through initiatives like the International Day of Human Fraternity, the UAE continues to lead by example, demonstrating the profound impact of fostering global peace and coexistence.
