UAE President Unveils 13 New Residential Projects To Provide Over 40,000 Homes For Emiratis
UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan recently attended the unveiling of plans to establish 13 new residential areas in Abu Dhabi. These projects are set to deliver over 40,000 homes and plots for Emiratis, with a total investment of AED106 billion. The initiative underscores the UAE's commitment to enhancing citizens' living standards and fostering community well-being.
The agreements involve the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority and the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) collaborating with several property developers. They plan to build 25,244 housing units for Emiratis over five years, costing AED94 billion. Additionally, around 14,876 residential plots will be developed at a cost of AED12 billion.
The developments aim to create fully integrated communities with essential services and recreational spaces. These include commercial centres, mosques, schools, parks, green areas, and sports facilities. The projects are designed to meet sustainability goals while addressing citizens’ needs and promoting family stability across Abu Dhabi.
His Highness emphasised that these integrated projects highlight the housing sector's importance as a national priority. The goal is to improve citizens' quality of life and ensure Emirati families' comfort and well-being. He noted that building such communities represents a strategic investment in fostering a stable society ready for future challenges.
His Highness stressed the need for unified efforts between government entities and private sectors to deliver housing projects that support social stability. He highlighted that these efforts should reflect the UAE’s authentic identity while providing comfort and dignity for Emirati families.
The announcement was attended by several dignitaries including H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan; Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei; Jassem Mohammed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi; along with other sheikhs and senior officials.
Ongoing Housing Projects
The new projects add to existing developments by the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority like West Baniyas Housing Project and Yas Canal Housing Project. With these additions, the total number of new homes and plots under development will reach approximately 45,000 by 2029.
The agreements also include developing six integrated communities in various parts of Abu Dhabi city, providing 14,444 housing units at AED55.38 billion. Aldar Properties, Bloom Holding, and Modon Properties will deliver these projects.
Regional Developments
In addition to Abu Dhabi city developments, five agreements were announced for five communities in Al Ain offering 10,480 units at AED36.95 billion. These will be executed with Aldar Properties, Bloom Holding, Wahat Al Zaweya Real Estate, and IMKAN Properties.
Aldar Properties will also undertake two housing projects in Al Dhafra Region’s Al Sila and Madinat Zayed areas providing 320 homes at AED1.59 billion.
Vision for Family Stability
Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa from the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority noted that these agreements align with His Highness's vision to strengthen family stability through suitable housing options for Emiratis. This initiative supports the Year of Community objectives by promoting social cohesion values.
He added that collaboration with private sectors is crucial in developing communities that adapt to changing family needs across Abu Dhabi while maintaining high standards.
Sustainable Housing Initiatives
Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi from the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority stated that these agreements form part of leadership’s vision for modern sustainable housing enhancing citizens’ quality of life. The Authority works closely with private sectors delivering integrated projects addressing Emirati families’ needs across the emirate.
Maysarah Mahmoud Eid from ADPIC highlighted that these agreements reflect Abu Dhabi Government’s commitment towards ensuring dignified living standards for citizens through high-quality housing supporting family stability aligned with sustainable development plans.
