UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Appoints New Leadership For UAE Aid Agency
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has appointed new leaders to the UAE Aid Agency. H.E. Dr. Tareq Ahmed Mohamed Al Ameri will serve as Chairman, while H.E. Sultan Mohamed Saeed Al Shamsi takes on the role of Vice Chairman. These appointments aim to enhance the agency's effectiveness in managing foreign aid and humanitarian efforts.
Dr. Al Ameri currently directs the Office of Development Affairs at the Presidential Court. His career includes leadership roles such as Executive Director at the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and positions within the General Secretariat of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and the Ministry of Interior. His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in "Process Systems Engineering" from Imperial College London, an MBA from Abu Dhabi University, and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and Process Systems Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, USA.

H.E. Sultan Al Shamsi brings over 30 years of experience in foreign aid and humanitarian programmes to his new role as Vice Chairman. He has held significant positions like Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations, Assistant Undersecretary for Development Affairs at the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development, and Executive Director of the UAE Office for Coordination of Foreign Aid.
Al Shamsi's contributions have been pivotal in shaping UAE's foreign aid strategy over three decades. He was instrumental in establishing key entities such as the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development and drafting the nation’s first foreign aid policy and strategy.
Al Shamsi holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Information Systems from the University of Southern Queensland, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from UAE University.
The UAE Aid Agency is responsible for implementing foreign aid programmes, planning, supervising official government support, overseeing developmental projects, early recovery initiatives, and humanitarian relief efforts.
This strategic leadership change aims to strengthen UAE's role in global humanitarian efforts by leveraging Dr. Al Ameri's technical expertise and Al Shamsi's extensive experience in international cooperation.
