UAE Pavilion Concludes Successful Participation At Expo 2025 Osaka With Over Five Million Visitors
The UAE Pavilion wrapped up its participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, a six-month event centred on innovation and cultural exchange. Since opening on 13th April 2025, it attracted over five million visitors, both physical and virtual. This made it one of the most popular international pavilions at the Expo.
Throughout the event, the pavilion welcomed 4,930,645 in-person visitors and 113,443 online attendees. Additionally, more than 17,000 people joined virtually through the Expo platform. This highlights its significant engagement with audiences in Japan and globally.
The closing ceremony included the Pavilion's team, youth ambassadors from both the UAE and Japan, and four official partners: ADNOC, Pure Health, Space42, and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. Speeches by youth ambassadors and Pavilion officials were featured alongside a presentation reflecting on the Pavilion's journey.
Shihab Ahmed Al Faheem, UAE Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner-General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, remarked that the UAE Pavilion was "not just an exhibition space, but a vibrant platform that connected cultures and ideas, fostering a cross-border human dialogue." He emphasised how youth ambassadors' enthusiasm and partners' dedication shaped this unique experience.
The Pavilion's theme "Earth to Ether" was embodied through its unique architectural design inspired by the date palm. Visitors experienced an immersive journey through exhibits on space exploration, healthcare innovation, and sustainable technologies. These displays demonstrated how UAE's heritage influences its progress.
The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) awarded the Pavilion a Bronze Award for Architectural and Landscape Design in the self-built pavilions Type A category (larger than 1,500m2). This recognition placed it among the top three large pavilions at Expo 2025 Osaka.
Engaging Events and Initiatives
Over six months, numerous forums, cultural performances, and youth initiatives were hosted by the Pavilion. High-level delegations visited alongside thousands of guests. A highlight was UAE National Day at Expo on 19th September with H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attending.
The Expo brought together over 150 participants from various countries, organisations, and companies to explore sustainable futures focused on human-centric development. The closure marks another chapter in UAE's enduring Expo legacy since its first participation in Expo 1970 Osaka.
This legacy continued with hosting Expo 2020 Dubai before returning to Osaka in 2025. The UAE remains committed to building friendships and promoting shared progress through such platforms.
