UAE Passport Tops Charts As World's Least Expensive And Most Powerful Travel Document
The UAE passport has recently been recognised not only as one of the world's most potent travel documents but also as the least expensive, according to a new study by Australian price comparison site, Compare the Market. This finding underscores the exceptional value the UAE passport offers, with a cost of merely $17.70 Australian dollars for a five-year validity period. This equates to an annual expense of $3.54, making it the most budget-friendly option among global travel documents.
With the ability to enter 183 destinations without a visa, UAE passport holders enjoy unparalleled freedom of movement, essentially paying just $0.15 for each country they can visit visa-free. This positions the UAE passport as offering the best value for money according to the study's metrics. In stark contrast, Mexico's passport, the most expensive globally, demands a fee of USD$231.05 for ten years, which breaks down to $23.11 annually, yet it provides access to 21 fewer destinations than the UAE passport.
India and Hungary follow closely behind the UAE in the affordability ranking, with India's passport priced at $18.07 for a 10-year period and Hungary's at $20.75 for five years. However, the travel freedom these passports offer varies significantly, with India granting access to 62 countries and Hungary to 188.
Global Passport Rankings And Costs
Despite the high ranking of passports from countries like Australia, the US, and Canada in terms of travel freedom, their relative costliness has impacted their performance in the overall value study. On the other hand, the UAE has made impressive strides over the past decade, climbing 44 places to currently rank 11th due to its visa-free access to 183 countries.
This remarkable ascent has positioned the UAE as the highest-ranked country in the Middle East, significantly ahead of Qatar by 42 places. The majority of the top-tier passports belong to European nations, with Finland, Sweden, and South Korea sharing the second spot, followed by Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands in third. The United Kingdom has seen a slight improvement, moving up two places to fourth, while the United States, Canada, and Hungary share the seventh position.
Australia and New Zealand, along with Czechia and Poland, find themselves in sixth place, boasting visa-free access to 189 countries, highlighting the diverse range of travel freedom and passport costs worldwide. The UAE's combination of low cost and high travel freedom makes its passport a standout document for global citizens seeking both value and extensive access.
