UAE To Participate In World Bank Group And IMF Spring Meetings 2025 In Washington, D.C.

The UAE is actively participating in the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund 2025, taking place in Washington, D.C., from 21st to 26th April. The Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of the UAE are representing the nation, with Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, leading the delegation.

Joining Al Hussaini are key figures such as Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, and Younis Haji AlKhoori, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. Ebrahim Obaid Al Zaabi, Ahmed Saeed Al Qamzi, and Ali Abdullah Sharafi are also part of this delegation. Several senior financial experts accompany them to engage in discussions on global economic priorities.

The meetings aim to address crucial topics like future fiscal and monetary policies. Discussions will focus on enhancing financial resilience and promoting effective international cooperation. The sessions will also explore how international collaboration can foster new growth opportunities and adapt to changing economic conditions.

Al Hussaini emphasised that these meetings provide a strategic platform for coordinating international efforts. He stated, "This year’s IMF/WBG Spring Meetings offer a strategic platform to coordinate international efforts and strengthen cooperation in tackling global economic and financial challenges."

Al Hussaini highlighted the UAE's dedication to strengthening partnerships with international financial institutions. He noted that coordination is essential for achieving global economic stability. "We firmly believe that coordination and collaboration are key to achieving global economic stability and fulfilling our regional and international responsibilities," he added.

The UAE delegation will participate in several key events during these meetings. These include a ministerial meeting for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan with the IMF Managing Director. They will also join a closed-door roundtable with MENA Ministers of Finance.

Key Events Participation

The delegation's schedule includes attending the second G20 finance ministers meeting and central bank governors meeting. They will also be present at the International Monetary and Financial Committee plenary session and the 2nd BRICS Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting.

Additionally, various discussions will cover topics such as global economic prospects, development financing, climate action, and digital transformation. These sessions aim to provide insights into strengthening international cooperation amid a rapidly changing global economic landscape.

Engagement with Students

The UAE delegation plans to host a panel discussion at their embassy in Washington. This event will connect Emirati students studying in the U.S. with career opportunities in international financial organisations. Titled "Employment Opportunities in International Financial Organisations," it aims to guide students towards potential careers in global financial institutions.

This gathering offers a unique opportunity for open dialogue among select economic leaders worldwide. It encourages sharing insights on enhancing international cooperation amidst evolving global economic conditions.
