UAE Delegation Attends Parliamentary Group Meeting In Istanbul To Support Palestine

The UAE Parliamentary Division, led by Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), is set to participate in the inaugural Meeting of the Parliamentary Group in Solidarity with Palestine. This event will take place in Istanbul, Türkiye, organised by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.

During this gathering, Ghobash plans to engage in bilateral discussions with Professor Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. He will also meet with various parliamentary leaders attending the event to explore avenues for enhancing both bilateral and parliamentary cooperation.

The FNC's involvement comes following an official invitation from Professor Dr. Kurtulmuş. The aim is to bolster international parliamentary collaboration in support of Palestinian rights, aligning with international legitimacy. This initiative seeks to increase global recognition of Palestine and emphasise the need for a comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue.

The meeting aims to spotlight ongoing violations against Palestinians and strengthen parliamentary efforts to address them. It is anticipated as a strategic opportunity to rally international support for Palestine by uniting parliamentary efforts and consolidating positions on a global scale.

Central topics include advocating for a two-state solution and promoting international recognition of Palestine. The agenda also focuses on highlighting the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and the West Bank, addressing violations of international law and humanitarian rights in occupied territories.

Efforts will be made to coordinate international parliamentary actions in regional and global forums. Preserving Jerusalem's cultural and religious identity, including its Islamic and Christian holy sites, is another priority. Advancing legal accountability for severe human rights violations against Palestinians is also on the agenda.

This meeting serves as a platform for discussing these critical issues while fostering cooperation among supportive states. By doing so, it aims to strengthen collective efforts towards achieving justice and peace for Palestine on an international level.
