UAE Engages In GCC Transport Undersecretaries Meeting To Boost Regional Integration

The UAE, through the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), took part in the 27th meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Transport Ministries from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This gathering, hosted by Kuwait, included official delegations from various GCC nations and representatives from the GCC Secretariat General.

Sheikh Nasser Al Qasimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure Regulation at MoEI, led the UAE delegation. Al Qasimi highlighted the UAE's commitment to supporting the GCC's initiatives to boost integration in the transport sector. This effort aims to contribute to sustainable development and enhance economic and social cohesion among member states.

UAE Joins GCC Transport Meeting in Kuwait

Al Qasimi noted that significant advancements are occurring in the GCC transport sector. These developments are driven by ambitious national visions and strategies. Key projects include the Gulf railway network and a shift towards smart and sustainable transport systems. These initiatives aim to improve efficiency, reduce emissions, and align with regional aspirations for a sustainable future.

The meeting's agenda featured 25 items. It covered follow-ups on previous decisions, discussions on technical committee reports in land, maritime, and air transport sectors, and a review of the project to establish the Gulf Centre for Traffic Studies. The operational plan for 2026 was also discussed.

During discussions, participants stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts to unify policies and legislation. They also emphasised exchanging expertise to strengthen GCC states' position as a leading global hub in transport and logistics services.

The meeting also explored ways to enhance international cooperation with relevant regional and global organisations. This collaboration aims to support ongoing efforts in developing cohesive policies across member states.

The focus remains on fostering sustainable growth within the transport sector while ensuring alignment with broader regional goals for prosperity and sustainability.
