UAE Delegation Engages In GCC Media Ministries Meetings To Enhance Regional Media Policies
The UAE delegation, led by Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, participated in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) meetings for Under-Secretaries of Ministries of Media. The event took place in Kuwait and included key figures like Mohammed Ali Mohammed Aldhuhoori and Maitha Al Suwaidi from the UAE Media Council.
Al Shehhi expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its hospitality and excellent organisation. He also thanked the GCC General Secretariat for their ongoing support in media committee activities. He highlighted that Gulf media is undergoing a significant transformation, evolving from traditional roles to becoming influential in shaping public awareness and preserving cultural identity.
This evolution demands that the region develop cohesive Gulf media policies. Enhancing content quality and securing digital spaces are crucial to protect the values and interests of GCC societies. The meeting addressed several priority topics for collaborative media efforts among member states.
Key discussions included age classification for electronic games, guidelines for producing Gulf media content, and strengthening media partnerships with regional and international bodies. These initiatives aim to foster a unified approach to responsible media that aligns with global changes while safeguarding GCC values.
The integration of artificial intelligence in media production was another focal point. This initiative seeks to modernise content creation processes within the region. Additionally, leadership training programmes were discussed to enhance the skills of Gulf media professionals, ensuring they are equipped to meet future challenges.
The meeting is part of continuous efforts to refine the joint Gulf media framework. By unifying visions, the aim is to build a responsible media landscape that adapts to global shifts while maintaining core societal values across GCC nations.
Al Shehhi emphasised that this transformation places added responsibility on regional leaders. They must ensure that integrated policies are established, content quality is improved, and digital spaces are secured effectively.
The gathering underscored the importance of these initiatives as part of broader efforts to develop a cohesive Gulf media strategy. This strategy aims not only at keeping pace with global developments but also at preserving the unique cultural identity of GCC societies.
