UAE Celebrates 78th Anniversary Of Pakistan's Independence Day With Cultural Event In Dubai
The United Arab Emirates is marking Pakistan's 78th Independence Day with a public event at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai on August 10. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, will attend alongside Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan's Ambassador to the UAE. Diplomats, economic representatives, and notable Pakistani community members will also be present.
Organised by "Emirates Loves Pakistan" in collaboration with the Pakistan Association in Dubai and supported by Dubai Police, this event aims to engage the Pakistani community in celebrating their national day. The occasion will showcase Pakistan's cultural heritage through arts and folklore while recognising historical ties between the two nations. Activities will highlight traditions and contributions of the Pakistani community to the UAE’s development.

The event is expected to attract around 60,000 attendees. It will feature a ceremony honouring distinguished Pakistani community members in the UAE. Cultural performances, artistic exhibitions, musical presentations, and traditional folklore activities are planned to represent Pakistan's diverse culture and appeal to a wide audience.
Live performances by Sahir Ali Bagga, Natasha Baig, and storyteller Yousuf Bashir Qureshi will be part of the celebration. These artists are set to entertain attendees with their unique talents, adding vibrancy to the event. Their participation underscores the cultural richness that this celebration aims to highlight.
Since diplomatic relations were established in 1971 under Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s leadership, the UAE has worked to strengthen ties with Pakistan across various sectors. In January 2025, both countries issued a joint statement expressing their intent to enhance consultation and coordination for a stronger strategic partnership in economic, commercial, and cultural areas.
Strategic Partnerships
In June 2025, a strategic partnership focusing on governmental modernization was initiated between the UAE and Pakistan. This reflects their commitment to collaboration through sharing successful governmental practices and expertise. The partnership aims at developing institutional capacities for modernization efforts.
The UAE is a significant investor in Pakistan. Over two decades, investments from UAE public and private sectors have surpassed $10 billion. These investments focus on telecommunications, services, tourism, IT, oil and gas, housing, banking, and real estate sectors.
This celebration not only marks an important day for Pakistan but also highlights the enduring friendship between these two nations. It serves as a reminder of their shared history and ongoing cooperation across multiple domains.
