UAE Reaffirms Commitment To Palestinian Cause At Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference
Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), emphasised that Arab issues, especially the Palestinian cause, have been central to the UAE's foreign policy since its inception. This commitment was established by the UAE's Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The UAE consistently supports Arab rights on international platforms and advocates for a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Ghobash participated in the 37th extraordinary conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union. This event took place alongside the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland. Ibrahim Boughali, President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and President of Algeria's National People's Assembly, chaired the session. Other parliamentary leaders and members from Arab delegations were also present.

The UAE has been actively providing relief and medical aid to Palestinians and Lebanese during recent conflicts. Under directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, these efforts are supervised by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The UAE's contributions account for over 40% of global aid provided during these crises.
Ghobash highlighted that since the Gaza conflict began a year ago, followed by escalating tensions in Lebanon, the UAE has remained committed to supporting affected populations. This dedication aligns with its broader foreign policy objectives and humanitarian principles.
The UAE's actions reflect its enduring brotherly duty towards Arab nations. By defending Arab rights internationally and aiding those in need, it continues to uphold its foundational values set forth by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
This steadfast support underscores the UAE's role as a key player in regional stability and humanitarian assistance. Its efforts demonstrate a commitment to peace and prosperity for all Arabs, particularly in times of crisis.
