UAE Showcases Rich Heritage At The 18th Tan-Tan Cultural Festival In Morocco
The UAE is set to participate in the 18th Tan-Tan Cultural Moussem in Morocco, highlighting the universality of nomadic culture. This event, under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, will occur from May 14 to 18, 2025. The UAE's involvement aims to showcase its rich Bedouin heritage through various cultural displays and activities.
Recognised by UNESCO in 2008 as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Tan-Tan Moussem celebrates nomadic lifestyles. It emphasises mobility and a deep connection with nature. The festival serves as a platform for intercultural dialogue, bringing together diverse communities to share and celebrate their heritage.

The UAE pavilion will feature an engaging programme designed to highlight Emirati culture. Visitors can enjoy performances by folk art troupes, live demonstrations of traditional crafts, and Emirati culinary arts. Additionally, photo exhibitions, traditional games, poetry evenings, and musical concerts featuring renowned UAE artists will be part of the offerings.
Through these activities, the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority aims to promote Emirati traditions on an international stage. The focus is on showcasing the richness and diversity of Emirati heritage while reinforcing cultural ties between the UAE and Morocco. This participation underscores shared values and customs that unite both nations.
The UAE first participated in this festival in 2014 as a guest of honour during its tenth session. Since then, it has continued to strengthen its cultural connections with Morocco. The ongoing collaboration reflects the continuous growth in bilateral relations across various sectors, including culture.
At the event, traditional competitions such as camel racing will offer visitors an authentic glimpse into UAE's Bedouin heritage. The UAE Camel Racing Federation collaborates with Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority to bring these experiences to life at the pavilion.
Cultural Exchange and Preservation
This landmark cultural event provides an opportunity for the UAE to highlight its multifaceted heritage while emphasising efforts to preserve it for future generations. By participating in such events, the authority aims to promote understanding and appreciation of Emirati traditions globally.
