UAE Approves Official AI Policy To Shape Global Governance
The UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has taken a prominent step in shaping the future of artificial intelligence (AI) on a global scale. By adopting an official stance on AI policy internationally, the UAE aims to address the intricate challenges that AI presents worldwide. This policy, a collaborative effort between the Office of the Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology and the Office of the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, is a crucial part of the nation's broad foreign policy framework.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, highlighted the nation's active role in international AI governance. He stated, "The UAE has become a significant player in the global governance of artificial intelligence, actively contributing to international policy discussions and helping define the standards and frameworks that will shape the future of AI." Al Olama emphasized the policy's significance in reinforcing the UAE's leadership in AI, ensuring technological progress benefits society as a whole.

Omran Sharaf, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology, pointed out the benefits of adopting such a policy.
