UAE National Orchestra Makes Historic Debut At Eid Al Etihad Celebration In Zayed National Museum

The UAE National Orchestra (UAENO) recently made its debut at the Eid Al Etihad official ceremony held at the Zayed National Museum. This event marked their first public performance as a fully assembled national orchestra. The orchestra played specially arranged music for the national celebration and performed the UAE National Anthem, "Ishy Bilady," which resonated deeply with audiences across the nation.

Sheikha Alia bint Khalid Al Qassimi, Managing Director of UAENO, expressed her sentiments about this significant occasion. She stated, "It is a profound honour for the UAE National Orchestra to perform publicly for the first time as part of this year’s National Day celebrations. Eid Al Etihad is a moment that brings everyone who calls this country home together in pride and gratitude."

The orchestra's performance was not just about music; it accompanied visual and narrative storytelling that highlighted key moments from the UAE’s past and present. This integration of music with storytelling aimed to reflect the UAE's rich cultural heritage and its vision for the future. The event coincided with the opening of the Zayed National Museum, a landmark honouring Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's vision.

Amine Kouider, Artistic Director and Conductor of UAENO, shared his thoughts on this milestone event. He remarked, "Performing as part of the official Eid Al Etihad ceremony was a profound moment for our musicians. The ceremony brought together narrative, history and emotion, with the ambition to share a unified sound while drawing on the strength and diversity of our musicians."

The UAE National Orchestra comprises 70 full-time musicians and 30 choir members who represent both Arabic and Western musical traditions. Their participation in Eid Al Etihad aligns with their mission to showcase the UAE’s cultural identity through music. They aim to bring orchestral performances to communities across all seven Emirates.
