UAE NADA's Commitment To Advancing Sports Integrity Through Education And Monitoring

The UAE National Anti-Doping Agency (UAE NADA) is enhancing sports integrity through a comprehensive approach that includes monitoring, education, and international collaboration. By using advanced technology to detect violations, the agency strengthens the UAE's leadership in regional anti-doping initiatives.

Established in 2009 by a government decree, UAE NADA ensures compliance with global anti-doping standards in partnership with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The agency has developed a strong regulatory and technical framework focused on oversight, prevention, and promoting fair play.

UAE NADA Advances Sports Integrity Efforts

In line with the country's digital transformation goals, UAE NADA has adopted smart systems powered by artificial intelligence for data analysis and pattern monitoring. A unified digital platform for test documentation and communication with sports federations has been launched, positioning the UAE as a regional pioneer in comprehensive digital models.

The agency's programmes encompass most local and international sporting events within the UAE. Specialised teams collect and analyse samples at certified laboratories. The agency also extends its reach to youth athletes and amateur clubs to foster a new generation of clean athletes.

On the educational front, UAE NADA conducts annual workshops and seminars across sports clubs, federations, and educational institutions. These sessions target athletes, coaches, and medical staff, covering banned substances, athletes' rights and responsibilities, and testing procedures — all updated regularly according to international regulations.

Dr. Mai Ahmed Al Jaber, President of UAE NADA, stated that the agency prioritises sports integrity by applying top international standards to ensure a clean sporting environment in the UAE. "The agency implements a comprehensive strategy based on education and awareness," she said.

Collaborations with National and International Bodies

The agency collaborates with key national and international bodies such as the Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Health and Prevention, the UAE National Olympic Committee, and various national sports federations. These partnerships aim to expand regulatory oversight, share expertise, and ensure coordinated roles.

Moreover, UAE NADA is committed to training new specialists through accredited programmes that qualify national professionals as international inspectors. This effort enhances the UAE’s presence on the global stage.

Commitment to Continuous Development

NADA Secretary-General Abdullah Ahmed Al-Shehhi highlighted that the agency is advancing its operational programmes to align with scientific advancements. He noted that their sophisticated digital infrastructure integrates artificial intelligence technologies to enhance monitoring efficiency according to WADA standards.

The strategy also includes developing national talent through ongoing training programmes for doping control officers. This ensures alignment with global developments in anti-doping practices.

The agency's commitment to integrity in sports remains unwavering as it continues to implement strategies based on education while maintaining strict monitoring protocols. Through these efforts, UAE NADA aims to nurture an environment where fair play thrives across all levels of sport within the nation.
