UAE Showcases Mother Of The Nation 50:50 Vision At UN Global Forum On Gender Statistics In Georgia
The UAE recently took part in the 10th UN Global Forum on Gender Statistics, held from 1st to 3rd October in Georgia. Organised by the UN Statistics Division and hosted by Georgia's National Statistics Office, the event focused on using gender data to promote equality. It gathered national statistical offices, UN agencies, policymakers, and researchers to discuss innovations and partnerships.
Eng. Ghalya Ali Al Mannaee, Chairwoman of Strategic Affairs and Development at the General Women's Union (GWU), spoke at a session titled "Gender data and the digital transformation." She introduced the "Mother of the Nation 50:50 Vision," inspired by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. This vision aims to empower Emirati women as key partners in national and global development.

The UAE has been a leader in women's empowerment within the Gulf region. It was the first country there to launch a national strategy for women's empowerment, creating a comprehensive framework for related policies. This initiative benefits both female citizens and residents, ensuring opportunities for all women to thrive.
Eng. Al Mannaee highlighted that the UAE leads 31 global gender balance indicators and ranks first regionally in the 2025 Gender Gap Index, placing thirteenth globally. These achievements stem from efforts by relevant authorities and are supported by precise monitoring methodologies like the Women's Progress Monitoring System.
The Women's Progress Monitoring System was adopted by the Council of Ministers for Development in 2021 with input from 155 entities. The UAE is enhancing this system with artificial intelligence technologies to anticipate challenges proactively. This ensures it remains a dynamic tool linking vision with practical monitoring mechanisms.
The forum underscored gender data's role in policy planning and sustainable development promotion. It served as a platform for discussing gender equality issues, well-being, inclusive development, women's empowerment, and their participation in social and economic life.
Addressing Global Challenges
Special attention was given to violence against women and girls and overcoming gender stereotypes. Participants also explored gender aspects of migration, climate change, and how gender statistics can drive digital transformation and care systems' evolution.
The UAE's involvement in this global event highlights its dedication to shaping international agendas for women. It aims to solidify its position as a model combining forward-thinking vision with precise monitoring mechanisms for a sustainable future for women until 2075 and beyond.
This commitment aligns with UAE Centennial 2071 goals, aiming for Emirati women to become global models of influence and inspiration. The nation seeks partnerships, action, and innovation to ensure women's presence at the heart of future developments.
