UAE Ministry Of Finance Celebrates Triple Victory At MENA Procurement Awards 2024
The UAE Ministry of Finance's Digital Procurement Platform has garnered significant recognition at the Excellence in Procurement Awards MENA 2024, hosted by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS). The platform secured wins in the Best Use of Digital Technology and Best Procurement Transformation Programme categories, while also receiving high commendation in the Best Public Procurement Project of the Year category.
Mariam Mohamed Al Amiri, Assistant Under-Secretary of the Financial Management Sector, and Nadia Sultan Al Ali, Director of the Digital Procurement Platform, accepted the awards on behalf of the Ministry. Al Amiri emphasised that these accolades reflect the ministry's dedication to innovation and excellence in procurement practices, integrating digital transformation to enhance customer experiences.

Al Amiri stated, "These awards reflect the ministry’s relentless efforts and commitment to adopting innovation, as well as our pursuit of excellence in procurement practices and the integration of digital transformation into all processes, with the aim of facilitating the customers’ journey." She highlighted the importance of a proactive approach to meet customer needs using advanced technology.
The UAE Ministry of Finance is committed to several strategic initiatives. These include enhancing the role of small and medium-sized enterprises, supporting in-country value and Emiratisation, and boosting strategic partnerships among federal entities. The ministry also focuses on implementing digital policies, eliminating paper transactions, improving expenditure efficiency, and reducing purchasing cycle timeframes.
Other key areas include adopting electronic contracts and signatures, promoting sustainability and technological innovation, ensuring flexibility and transparency, and maintaining zero bureaucracy. The ministry also utilises a digital procurement catalogue and framework agreements, standard performance indicators, interactive sessions, and design thinking with suppliers.
Criteria for Recognition
The awards' criteria required demonstrating how the project addressed specific challenges through best practices and innovations. It also necessitated showcasing expected outcomes and measurable benefits, identifying main challenges and lessons learned, and providing proof of performance through key performance indicators. Testimonials, endorsements, and coverage were also part of the evaluation process.
