UAE Empowers Child Safety With 420 Trained Specialists And Coordinators

Dr. Fatima Al-Raisi, Director of the Social Protection Department at the Ministry of Community Development (MoCD), reported that 45 child protection specialists were trained nationwide until April 2024. Additionally, 375 child protection coordinators in relevant entities working in childhood were also trained. The MoCD collaborated with several organisations to establish nine child protection units and implement various programmes.

These initiatives included workshops on child rights laws, online child protection, raising awareness on proper ways to interact with teenagers, and training parents and related groups on effective engagement with children. Dr. Al-Raisi emphasised that supporting and protecting children is a top priority within the ministry's strategic plans and initiatives.

UAE Boosts Child Safety Training

The "Child Protection Unit" offers comprehensive support to children who may face abuse or challenges that hinder their upbringing in a healthy and stable environment. The unit ensures their safety, rehabilitation, and empowerment to become active individuals who positively contribute to society in various fields. Preventive measures are taken to protect children from harm in accordance with UAE laws.

The ministry has developed and implemented a series of programmes and initiatives aimed at child protection. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure the well-being of children across the nation.

The Ministry is currently developing a digital linking system with relevant entities concerned with childhood in the UAE, such as judicial, social, and educational authorities. Significant progress has been made in coordinating between child protection units at the Ministry of Education, Emirates Schools Establishment, and the MoCD to ensure role integration and address behaviours affecting children's upbringing and stability.

This digital linking system aims to enhance communication and cooperation among various entities involved in child protection, ensuring a more cohesive approach to addressing issues related to children's welfare.
