UAE's Health Ministry Hosts Key Workshop To Propel Zero Government Bureaucracy Initiative
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) recently hosted a workshop in collaboration with the Prime Minister's Office to discuss the Zero Government Bureaucracy (ZGB) Programme. This initiative is part of a broader effort to streamline government operations, enhance the quality of life for the community, and improve customer satisfaction across the UAE. The workshop aimed to outline the programme's objectives, review operational systems, and explain the evaluation criteria necessary for its successful implementation.
During the session, participants explored the programme's scope, procedures, and requirements. They also discussed evaluation criteria and mechanisms for determining processes to be streamlined or eliminated. The workshop highlighted the next steps MoHAP needs to take, following guidance from the Prime Minister's Office and adhering to five key evaluation pillars of the ZGB Programme.

Notable attendees included Abdullah Ahli, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for the Support Services Sector and Head of MoHAP’s ZGB Team, alongside members of MoHAP's programme team and directors from various departments. From the Prime Minister's Office, Advisor Hesham Al Amiri, Coordinator of the ZGB Programme; Amira Al Ketbi, Director of the Government Services Evaluation Department; and Hind Alabbar, Government Services Sector Expert, were present.
The workshop culminated in a detailed action plan with specific objectives and stages set along a defined timeline for completing the zeroing operations. This plan includes mechanisms for ongoing monitoring and evaluation to assess the impact of improvements aimed at facilitating customer interactions and delivering quicker services by streamlining procedures.
Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Under-Secretary of MoHAP, emphasized the importance of this initiative in aligning with UAE's directives to enhance government efficiency and set new benchmarks in delivering top-tier institutional services. He highlighted MoHAP's commitment to incorporating leading international practices to elevate service standards in line with the UAE Government Charter for Future Services.
Al Olama announced that a detailed action plan for implementation within the current year will be formulated. This plan is expected to significantly enhance customer journeys by making them more efficient. He also noted that MoHAP offers various service packages designed to save time and effort, enabling customers to access services without repeated visits to service centres.
The ZGB programme represents a significant step by the UAE government towards eliminating redundant procedures and requirements. This initiative aims at cancelling a minimum of 2,000 government measures, halving the time required for procedures, and removing all unnecessary bureaucracy by the end of 2024. Through such measures, MoHAP and other government entities are working towards achieving national goals related to improving community life quality, enhancing customer satisfaction, supporting UAE's leadership on global indicators, and contributing to sustainable development goals.
