UAE: MoHRE Issues Remote Work Advisory For Private Sector Amid Weather Alert

In response to anticipated adverse weather conditions, the UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has issued guidance for private sector companies to adopt flexible and remote working arrangements on May 2, 2024. This advisory aims to safeguard employee health and safety amidst the expected climatic changes. The announcement was made following consultations between MoHRE and pertinent authorities, highlighting the government's proactive approach to weather-related challenges.

The directive, however, exempts essential roles that necessitate physical presence at the workplace, including positions vital to responding to the weather conditions. MoHRE's statement underscores the necessity for these exempted roles to continue their functions at their designated work premises to ensure continuity of essential services.

MoHRE's advisory further emphasizes the importance of staying informed about the weather situation. "We urge private sector companies and their employees to keep up with updates issued by authorities regarding the weather conditions," the Ministry advised, pointing to the dynamic nature of weather patterns and the need for timely information.

In addition to adapting work modalities, MoHRE has called on companies to adhere strictly to instructions from local authorities relating to the weather's impact on operations. This includes implementing necessary occupational health and safety measures to mitigate risks associated with the weather fluctuations. The Ministry's statement concludes with an appeal for caution, underscoring the collective responsibility of employers and employees in ensuring workplace safety during this period.
