UAE Ministry Of Finance Rolls Out Customer Councils To Streamline Services

The UAE Ministry of Finance (MoF) has taken a significant step towards enhancing government efficiency and customer satisfaction with the introduction of the Customer Councils. This initiative is a cornerstone of the Zero Government Bureaucracy programme, aimed at streamlining administrative processes by eliminating redundant procedures and requirements. The inaugural session of the Customer Councils was held in Dubai on Tuesday, marking a pivotal moment in the MoF's commitment to innovation and development in government services.

During this first session, participants shared their experiences and levels of satisfaction with the Ministry's services, providing invaluable insights into the effectiveness of current procedures and areas for improvement. Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, underscored the importance of customer feedback in the ongoing effort to reduce government bureaucracy. He highlighted that understanding customer experiences is crucial for evaluating and enhancing government services and procedures.

UAE Launches Customer Councils

Al Hussaini also emphasized the vital role of the Ministry’s staff in this endeavour, acknowledging their expertise and direct interaction with customers as key to achieving success in this developmental journey. The Minister expressed optimism about the potential outcomes of the Customer Councils, anticipating significant contributions to the programme's objectives.

The MoF is actively engaging with both the private sector and individuals through these councils, which will convene in both virtual and physical formats. This inclusive approach aims to gather a broad spectrum of opinions on various topics and services, fostering a collaborative environment for decision-making. Additionally, the Ministry is organizing interactive labs, brainstorming sessions, and design thinking workshops as part of its Zero Government Bureaucracy Interactive Lab. These sessions are designed to solicit proposals from stakeholders for procedural improvements, test solutions, and envision the future state of initiatives under the programme.

The overarching goal of the Zero Government Bureaucracy programme is to significantly reduce governmental red tape. The UAE government has mandated ministries and entities to cancel at least 2,000 government measures, halve the time required for procedures, and eliminate all unnecessary bureaucracy. This ambitious initiative reflects the government's dedication to fostering an environment of efficiency and effectiveness, ultimately benefiting individuals, the private sector, adopting institutions, and their employees alike.

As this initiative progresses, it holds the promise of transforming the landscape of government services in the UAE. By prioritizing customer experiences and leveraging the expertise within its ranks, the MoF is poised to make substantial strides in its quest to streamline administrative processes and enhance overall customer satisfaction.
