UAE Media Council Hosts Workshop On Artificial Intelligence's Role In Future Of Media
The UAE Media Council, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, organised a workshop on 17th and 18th November. Titled "Engineering the New Media Era with Artificial Intelligence," it took place at Creators HQ in Emirates Towers. The event aimed to enhance media professionals' skills by integrating artificial intelligence into their work.
Participants from media, news, and marketing sectors across GCC countries attended the workshop. They received training on various AI tools tailored for the media industry. These tools are designed to improve content accuracy, speed up publishing processes, and boost creativity across different platforms.

Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, emphasised the importance of empowering talent with AI for future competitiveness. He highlighted the need for continuous programmes and strategies to enhance media professionals' readiness and sector flexibility in GCC countries.
Al Shehhi noted that developing media capabilities with advanced technologies fosters an innovative environment. This approach opens opportunities for launching pioneering projects in media and creativity within the region. He mentioned that investing in skills is crucial for the future of media.
The workshop began by exploring AI's impact on media, followed by practical applications of advanced tools. Participants learned to produce smart, creative content ready for publication, including videos, images, and text. They also explored using AI in research, archiving, and project management.
The global market presents a unique opportunity for the region. Al Shehhi cited international estimates predicting that the AI market in media and entertainment could reach US$99.48 billion by 2030. This growth necessitates integrated strategies to develop talent and leadership skills.
Practical Training Sessions
The practical component concluded with participants designing their own smart assistant or AI Agent. This tool serves as a personal aide for various tasks, both routine and research-related. The training aimed to transform editorial work into intelligent systems while maintaining professional ethics.
Participants were trained to ensure content credibility through verification processes and tackle deepfake challenges across different fields. The workshop aimed to equip them with practical expertise to enhance leadership capabilities and professional readiness.
