UAE Media Council Emphasises Importance Of International Government Communication Forum For Quality Of Life
Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, highlighted the significance of the Council's involvement in the 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2025). This year's event, hosted by Sharjah, focuses on "Communication for Quality of Life." Al Shehhi described it as a key event in both the UAE and the broader region.
During an interview with Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the forum's opening day, Al Shehhi explained that their participation includes a pavilion. This pavilion emphasises the quality of life in the UAE and showcases its desert and mountain landscapes. He stated, "Our participation comes through a pavilion that highlights the concept of quality of life in the UAE, while also showcasing the country’s desert and mountain environments."

The UAE Media Council prioritises people as central to their mission, recognising them as genuine content creators. Al Shehhi mentioned that they recently introduced the Advertiser Permit to regulate advertising on social media platforms. This initiative aims to protect both individuals and companies by overseeing paid and unpaid content.
Al Shehhi noted a strong interest in this permit, with over 1,800 content creators already registered. He remarked that this initiative is unique to the UAE and has received regional acclaim. It is anticipated to positively influence advertising regulation, especially for individuals.
Over the last two years, the UAE Media Council has developed a comprehensive legislative framework alongside effective regulatory policies. These measures have contributed positively to enhancing development, efficiency, and sustainability within the media sector.
Al Shehhi added that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure a thriving media environment in the UAE. The focus remains on creating a balanced ecosystem where content creators can thrive while adhering to established guidelines.
The forum serves as an essential platform for discussing communication strategies aimed at improving quality of life. By participating actively, the UAE Media Council underscores its commitment to advancing communication practices within the region.
