UAE Media Council Holds Third Meeting To Advance Media Sector Policies And Initiatives
The UAE Media Council Board of Directors recently held its third meeting of 2025. Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, who chairs both the UAE National Media Office and the UAE Media Council, led the session. The focus was on discussing policies, legislations, and initiatives to enhance the media sector's development.
Al Hamed emphasised that these strategies are designed to keep up with global media changes. They aim to strengthen media's role as a crucial sector supporting the national economy and aligning with future state goals. He highlighted plans for innovative initiatives and incentives to boost local content and maintain the UAE's global media leadership.
During the meeting, a significant topic was the local content enablement framework. This framework is central to new policies aimed at boosting local media content's contribution to the national economy. It supports production and development, enhances national identity preservation, promotes Emirati culture globally, and empowers media innovators and entrepreneurs.
The gathering included notable council members: Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid Al Qasimi from Ras Al Khaimah Ruler’s Court; Maryam AlMheiri of Abu Dhabi Media Office; Tariq Saeed Allay from Sharjah Government Media Bureau; Nasser Muhammed Al Yamahi of Fujairah Culture and Media Authority; Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council; and Maitha Majed Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Media Strategy and Policy Sector.
Al Hamed noted that upcoming stages will see innovative initiatives introduced. These are designed to promote local content further while ensuring that the UAE maintains its leading position in the global media sector. The initiatives aim to support national economic growth through enhanced media contributions.
