UAE and Maldives Forge Stronger Bonds at World Governments Summit 2024
On the second day of the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024, a significant meeting took place between His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Maldives. This high-level dialogue, observed by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation to serve mutual interests.
The discussions underscored the Maldives' vital role in the World Governments Summit and its contribution to tightening economic and political ties between the UAE and the Maldives. The meeting also highlighted the significance of the summit as a global platform for governments to innovate solutions to humanity's most pressing challenges. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu delivered a keynote address, sharing the stage with leaders from Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of the event.

The World Governments Summit 2024, themed ‘Shaping Future Governments’, is being hosted in Dubai until February 14th. This three-day event has become a melting pot for over 25 heads of state, more than 85 international and regional organizations, and 140 governments. It serves as a pivotal gathering for distinguished global thought leaders and experts to discuss future trends.
With over 200 prominent speakers participating in more than 110 dialogues and sessions, the summit aims to address global trends and challenges. The WGS 2024 has attracted more than 4,000 attendees, including over 300 ministers participating in more than 23 ministerial meetings and executive sessions. This extensive participation underscores the summit's role as an essential forum for discussing governance strategies and policies for future generations.
