UAE Delegation Heads Humanitarian Conference For Gaza, Urges International Aid
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, led the UAE delegation at the international conference on emergency humanitarian response in Gaza. The event commenced today at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre at the Dead Sea in Jordan. It was jointly organised by Jordan, Egypt, and the United Nations.
The conference was convened at the invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Several heads of state, government leaders, and heads of international humanitarian and relief organisations were present.

The UAE delegation included Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State; Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Foreign Minister for Development Affairs and International Organisations.
Sheikh Abdullah attended the conference sessions, which featured speeches by King Abdullah II, President El-Sisi, and António Guterres. He praised their invitation to hold this conference, emphasising the importance of creating an active and sustainable international action to assist the Palestinian people.
In his speech, Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the significance of this conference amid ongoing tension and instability in the Middle East. He noted that more than 2.3 million Palestinians are affected by this humanitarian crisis, necessitating an effective international response.
Sheikh Abdullah reiterated the UAE's commitment to standing by the Palestinian people. He stressed that the UAE would provide necessary humanitarian support by land, sea, and air to alleviate their suffering. He emphasised that collective international action is crucial to addressing this escalating crisis.
He commended the conference's objectives to identify effective mechanisms for humanitarian response and operational needs. This approach aims to contribute to a unified response to the crisis in Gaza.
Role of the United Nations
Sheikh Abdullah praised the UN's support for the conference and highlighted the importance of empowering UN humanitarian organisations. He noted that their role is crucial in preventing further suffering for Gaza's residents.
The UAE top diplomat also pointed out the UN's significant role in coordinating with active parties in the international community. He stressed the need for a serious political prospect for resuming negotiations to achieve comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution.
Call for Regional and International Efforts
Sheikh Abdullah stressed the urgent need for regional and international efforts to end extremism, tension, and violence in the region. He called for promoting peace, stability, and development for the benefit of its peoples.
