UAE Leadership Fuels Success In Enhancing Sustainable Food Security For Farmers

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, highlighted the UAE's progress in supporting farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs. This effort aims to enhance sustainable food security with the support of the nation's leadership. The first Emirates Agriculture Conference and Exhibition represents a significant step towards developing an innovative agricultural sector in the UAE.

The event, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, took place from 28th to 31st May at ADNEC Al Ain Centre. Organised by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, it attracted participation from government bodies, private sectors, academic institutions, start-ups, local farmers, and the community. The event successfully showcased agricultural innovations and strengthened strategic partnerships.

UAE Leadership Supports Sustainable Food Security

Dr. Amna emphasised ongoing support from His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the UAE's agricultural sector. His Highness prioritises empowering farmers through various programmes aimed at improving farms, boosting production, and enhancing quality and competitiveness. This support is crucial for achieving sustainable national food security.

Al Ain has become a vital agricultural hub in the UAE with backing from H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Its strong potential positions it to play a larger role in boosting agriculture and supporting sustainable food security. Al Ain now serves as a national model for modern agriculture, making it an ideal host for this inaugural conference.

During the closing ceremony, Dr. Amna expressed pride in the conference's success and gratitude to contributors. She stated: "We have witnessed how science and hard work can transform challenges into opportunities." The unique products seen at the event demonstrate progress towards sustainable food security.

Dr. Amna stressed Emirati farmers' vital role: "At the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, we believe that Emirati farmers are at the heart of our efforts." Empowering them with knowledge and technology is key to advancing agriculture in the UAE.

Commitment to Sustainable Agriculture

The minister expressed optimism about future initiatives: "I am confident we will continue to strengthen partnerships." The goal is to make agriculture a driver of sustainable development across the Emirates. The ministry aims to build on this event's success annually.

The conference provided a platform for sharing knowledge on modern agriculture technologies. It featured over 75 speakers in talks, panel discussions, and workshops covering all aspects of sustainable agriculture.

Acknowledging Contributions

At the close of the event, Dr. Amna acknowledged strategic partners and sponsors for their contributions to its success. She said: "I extend my sincere thanks to all sponsors, partners, farmers." Their efforts are crucial for transforming agriculture towards sustainability.

The event saw participation from 22 government entities involved in agriculture alongside over 40 private companies and more than 20 agritech start-ups. Four national universities contributed research capabilities with participation from schools involving over 1,000 students in workshops.

This inaugural conference marks just the beginning of a journey towards more sustainable agriculture aligned with UAE leadership's vision. The focus remains on empowering Emirati farmers while ensuring sector sustainability for future generations.
