UAE Enhances International Cooperation And Partnerships, RAK Ruler Speaks At SCO Summit
H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, represented the UAE at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Astana, Kazakhstan. The summit, held on 3rd and 4th July, focused on "Strengthening Multilateral Dialogue - Striving Towards a Sustainable Peace and Prosperity". Heads of state and government from Member States, along with representatives from regional and international organisations, attended the event.
The UAE's participation follows its official recognition as a "Dialogue Partner" in the SCO during last year's meetings in India. H.H. Sheikh Saud emphasised that under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership, the UAE is dedicated to fostering partnerships globally. This commitment spans economic, trade, political, cultural, energy, and technological sectors. He highlighted that international cooperation is crucial for driving development and accelerating economic growth for a sustainable future.
In his speech at the summit, H.H. Sheikh Saud underscored the UAE's dedication to promoting multilateral international work. He noted the significant role of the SCO in enhancing cooperation among Member States to achieve shared objectives. The UAE adopts an inclusive approach to economic partnerships, foreign trade, and investment, working with various partners to address pressing global issues.
H.H. Sheikh Saud reiterated the UAE's call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. He stressed the importance of delivering urgent humanitarian aid and outlined the need for a clear path towards achieving just and lasting peace based on a two-state solution. This would ensure the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent and sovereign state.
The summit commenced with a keynote by Kazakhstan's President, who highlighted the SCO's objectives of boosting solidarity and cooperation among Member States. He presented recommendations aimed at strengthening relations across political, trade, economic, and security fields.
High-Level Delegation
Accompanying H.H. Sheikh Saud was a high-level delegation including Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy; Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Mohammed Saeed Al Ariqi, UAE Ambassador to Kazakhstan; along with other officials.
Several heads of state and leaders from international organisations also spoke at the summit. They addressed regional and global issues while discussing ways to enhance comprehensive partnerships among SCO members. These efforts aim to maintain peace and security while accelerating regional development.
The Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah stated that this summit marks a new era of cooperation among member countries. It covers various fields to advance common interests that benefit their peoples.
The UAE continues to work towards steering international cooperation towards addressing global priorities effectively.
