UAE Reaffirms Leadership In Multilateral Climate Action At COP30 In Belém

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reaffirmed its dedication to global climate cooperation at the Thirtieth Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP30) in Belém, Brazil. The UAE emphasised the need for collective progress and stronger international partnerships to achieve the 1.5°C climate target. Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, led the UAE delegation, highlighting their commitment to multilateral efforts.

The UAE's approach to climate diplomacy is comprehensive and forward-thinking, involving both government and society. This strategy underscores the importance of reliable partnerships as a core element of their national vision. The delegation included ministries, senior officials, negotiators, and experts from various national institutions, reflecting a unified national effort.

At COP30, the UAE aims to transform ambition into action through practical solutions driven by inclusivity and partnerships. Building on the UAE Consensus from COP28, priorities include accelerating climate finance delivery, expanding clean energy innovation, and empowering youth and communities for sustainable development. Nature-based solutions and adaptation efforts are also key focuses.

Water Conference Co-Hosting

As preparations continue for co-hosting the 2026 United Nations Water Conference with Senegal, the UAE is advocating for water to be central to sustainable development and climate action. Through high-level dialogues and cross-sector partnerships, they aim to integrate water into all development pillars, promoting resilience and innovation ahead of the December 2026 conference.
