UAE's Sharif Al Olama Highlights Leadership In Energy Transition At Egypt Energy & FIREX 2025

Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, attended the Egypt Energy and FIREX 2025 Exhibition in Cairo from October 14 to 16. The event featured participation from government bodies and companies focused on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and clean technologies. Al Olama explored the exhibition's pavilions to learn about the latest innovations in clean energy and sustainability.

He highlighted the exhibition's role in promoting knowledge exchange and enhancing cooperation regionally and internationally. This collaboration is crucial for supporting a global shift towards resilient, secure, and low-carbon energy systems. Al Olama stated that such events are vital for sharing expertise and strengthening partnerships in clean energy and advanced technologies.

UAE Showcases Energy Transition Leadership in Cairo

Al Olama emphasised the UAE's commitment to becoming an active partner in global climate neutrality efforts. He mentioned that the country is adopting pioneering initiatives and flagship projects to accelerate the energy transition while balancing sustainability with economic growth. The UAE aims to solidify its position through these efforts.

The Global Energy Efficiency Alliance (GEEA), recently launched by the UAE, exemplifies impactful international partnerships. Led by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, GEEA fosters collaboration between governments and private sectors to promote energy-saving technologies and emission reduction initiatives.

The UAE has made significant strides in clean energy, with renewable energy projects exceeding a production capacity of 6.7 gigawatts. Al Olama noted that this progress aligns with global trends towards a low-carbon economy, reinforcing the UAE's leadership in innovation and sustainability.

He also mentioned the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050, which aims to position the UAE among leading producers and exporters of low-carbon hydrogen by 2031. This strategy supports the country's vision for climate neutrality and sustainable economic growth.

Al Olama said, "The UAE is working to solidify its position as an active partner in global efforts to achieve climate neutrality, through the adoption of pioneering initiatives and flagship projects that accelerate the energy transition while balancing sustainability with economic growth."

He added, "The UAE has made tangible progress in the field of clean energy, with the production capacity of renewable energy projects exceeding 6.7 gigawatts. The country is also implementing the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050, aiming to position the UAE among the world’s leading producers and exporters of low-carbon hydrogen by 2031, supporting its vision for climate neutrality and sustainable economic growth."
