UAE's Leadership Reaffirms Support For Olympic Movement And Athletes

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), emphasised the UAE's dedication to advancing the goals and initiatives of the Olympic Movement. This commitment underscores the significant role sports play in UAE society and reflects the leadership's resolve to support Olympic endeavours.

Speaking on the occasion of Olympic Day, marked in Dubai today, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed highlighted that the values and principles fostered through sports participation embody the true essence of the Olympic movement. He noted that engaging in sporting events not only enhances athletes' performance but also reinforces ideals such as sportsmanship, fair play, and unity.

UAE Backs Olympic Goals

Olympic Day, celebrated annually in collaboration with National Olympic Committees worldwide, commemorates the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 23 June 1894. This year's theme is 'Let's Move and Celebrate'.

"The UAE NOC is proud to participate in Olympic Day events in coordination with the IOC," said His Highness. The IOC's logo, featuring its iconic five rings, and the Paris Olympics logo were displayed on the Burj Khalifa in Dubai for the second consecutive year.

His Highness expressed pride in participating in this event held just weeks before the Paris Olympic Games, which promotes movement, health, and fitness. He highlighted that this opportunity will inspire UAE athletes to achieve outstanding results and bring pride to their country.
