UAE And University Of Birmingham Initiate 5th AI Programme Cohort
The National Programme for Artificial Intelligence has initiated the fifth cohort of its AI programme. This initiative aims to equip national talents with advanced tools and skills, enhancing their knowledge of global developments in artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI. The programme seeks to build a generation of innovators in future technological fields.
Targeting employees from both government and private sectors, the programme is supervised by the National Programme for Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with the University of Birmingham. It focuses on enhancing participants' capabilities in AI, introducing them to its concepts, and increasing their knowledge of the latest advancements in generative AI. The programme also addresses future challenges and opportunities in the field.

Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, emphasised the UAE's commitment to investing in creative talents. He highlighted the importance of these talents in anticipating the future of AI and supporting comprehensive digital transformation in the country. Al Olama stated that the UAE is dedicated to involving these talents in shaping the nation's future by innovating solutions to challenges and exploring new opportunities that enhance well-being.
Al Olama noted that the launch of the AI programme aligns with the national movement to adopt AI technologies, develop innovative solutions, and employ its tools to create digital solutions. These efforts aim to enhance the UAE’s leadership in AI and keep pace with global changes by building capacities and skills, encouraging talents, and empowering them with the latest technologies.
Wide Participation and Comprehensive Modules
The fifth cohort sees participation from over 30 governmental and private entities. The programme aims to provide participants with expertise in AI within their respective fields of work, enhancing their knowledge and understanding of AI applications. This includes large language models (LLMs) and generative models, addressing security and ethical challenges.
The programme is structured into five specialised modules: an introduction to artificial intelligence, generative AI, data strategies for machine learning, studies of generative models, and implementing generative AI techniques. This structure aims to advance the UAE’s progress towards achieving its national goals in digital fields by enabling an understanding of global AI developments.
Previous Successes
In previous cohorts, the AI programme has graduated more than 300 employees from over 100 governmental and private entities. These graduates hold leadership positions in their workplaces and have developed a range of innovative projects in artificial intelligence and its applications.
