UAE Latvia Relations Strengthened As Leaders Meet At World Governments Summit 2026
On the preliminary day of the World Governments Summit 2026, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met Latvia’s Prime Minister Evika Siliņa in Dubai. The discussion focused on deepening cooperation between the UAE and Latvia, while also reviewing how both countries engage with the Summit’s agenda on future-ready governance.
The meeting took place ahead of the official opening of the World Governments Summit 2026, which will run for three days under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments’. Leaders examined how international partnerships can support government readiness for future challenges and help translate the Summit’s discussions into practical public policy outcomes.

During the talks, both sides reviewed several core issues scheduled for debate at the World Governments Summit 2026. These include intergovernmental cooperation, governance innovation and sustainable development. The discussions highlighted the Summit’s role as a venue where governments exchange best practices, share lessons from reforms, and explore new ideas for more efficient and resilient public institutions.
The World Governments Summit 2026 is set to host more than 60 heads of state and government, along with their deputies. Over 500 ministers are attending, together with representatives from more than 150 governments. The event also includes more than 80 international and regional organisations, over 700 chief executives, and 87 Nobel Prize laureates and other major scientific award recipients, with participation exceeding 6,250 people.
Strengthening bilateral ties between the UAE and Latvia formed a central part of the agenda linked to the World Governments Summit 2026. The meeting reviewed current cooperation and explored expansion in several priority sectors. Particular attention was given to economic and trade relations, with both sides seeking to advance shared interests and identify additional channels for long-term partnership.
The session was attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Also present were H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, and Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy. Their presence reflected the high-level nature of the talks and the importance of the topics discussed.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum welcomed Latvia’s participation in the World Governments Summit 2026, stressing the value of global cooperation in addressing emerging worldwide issues. Evika Siliņa underlined the strength of collaboration between Latvia and the UAE, and highlighted the Summit as a global platform for dialogue aimed at driving positive change and supporting the development of governments prepared for the future.
