UAE And Latvia Consider Establishing Joint Business Council To Strengthen Trade
The United Arab Emirates Federation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) is exploring the establishment of a joint business council with Latvia, aiming to boost trade and investment cooperation. This initiative seeks to create a platform for entrepreneurs and investors from both nations, facilitating joint activities, mutual visits by trade missions, and participation in trade fairs and exhibitions. The proposal was discussed during a meeting in Dubai between Humaid Mohammed bin Salem, Secretary-General of the FCCI, and Dana Goldfinča, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the UAE.
The meeting, which also saw the presence of Ahmed Juma Al Qaizi, FCCI Assistant Secretary-General, and Marcis Maksims, Deputy Head of the Latvian Mission to the UAE, focused on the potential benefits of such a council. Humaid bin Salem emphasized the importance of establishing direct relations between Emirati and Latvian entrepreneurs and investors. He highlighted key areas for cooperation including information technology, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), food, tourism, and innovation.

Dana Goldfinča praised the existing bilateral ties between Latvia and the UAE and expressed enthusiasm for the proposed cooperation with FCCI. She acknowledged the efforts made by FCCI to serve their respective business communities, indicating a positive outlook for future collaborations.
This initiative represents a significant step towards enhancing economic relations between the UAE and Latvia. By focusing on sectors critical for both nations' growth, such as IT, SMEs, food, tourism, and innovation, this proposed council aims to foster a conducive environment for business exchanges and investments. The establishment of a joint business council could serve as a catalyst for increased bilateral trade and investment flows, benefiting both countries' economies.
