UAE And Kyrgyzstan Collaborate On Second Government Accelerators Cohort
The United Arab Emirates and Kyrgyzstan have initiated the second phase of government accelerators, marking a significant step in their collaborative efforts towards government modernisation and development. This initiative was announced during a recent visit by the UAE's Knowledge Exchange Office delegation to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan's capital. The delegation aimed to discuss and enhance the partnership between the two nations in various developmental fields.
The UAE delegation was led by Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange. It also included Dr. Mohamed Saeed Mohamed Alariqi, the UAE Ambassador to Kazakhstan and non-resident Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, alongside the team from the Government Knowledge Exchange Office.

Abdulla Lootah highlighted the success of the government accelerators in Kyrgyzstan as a testament to the strong strategic partnership between the UAE and Kyrgyzstan. He emphasized that this collaboration has been instrumental in fostering innovation and developing solutions to governmental challenges. The launch of a new cohort of government accelerators is seen as a continuation of this success, aiming to address and resolve challenges within a record timeframe of less than 100 days.
The second cohort focuses on key challenges such as attracting foreign investment, improving legislative structures for investment and economy, enhancing local exports mechanisms, streamlining the issuance of goods documents and approvals, issuing certificates for newborns, and simplifying vehicle registration processes.
The first cohort of government accelerators achieved notable successes in addressing various challenges. These included reducing barriers to opening nurseries, facilitating children's enrollment, increasing the use of electric vehicles, and improving public service delivery through accelerated digital transformation.
Specifically, efforts were made to encourage the use of electric vehicles over gasoline and fossil fuel vehicles, supporting energy-saving initiatives. Additionally, there was a focus on developing smart government platforms to facilitate service delivery processes more efficiently.
Bilateral Cooperation Agreement
In 2021, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the UAE, and Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, signed a bilateral cooperation agreement. This agreement laid down a framework for collaboration across nine pillars: government accelerators, capacity building, economy, youth, sustainability, coding, government development, government services, and government excellence.
This partnership underscores both countries' commitment to leveraging their cooperation for mutual development and modernisation. The success stories emerging from these collaborations serve as a model for international partnerships aimed at governmental innovation and development.
