UAE Kuwait Relations Strengthened By Fraternal Solidarity And Wise Leadership

GCC states are working on parallel tracks, Dr Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash said, seeking prosperity for citizens while also trying to calm regional tensions through dialogue and political solutions. He noted that Gulf countries agree on avoiding confrontation, and have jointly stated their territories and facilities will not be used to launch military operations against Iran, reflecting a shared commitment to protect regional stability.

Dr Gargash stressed that the Gulf Cooperation Council’s value lies in acting as a unified reference for its members. The most important achievement, according to Dr Gargash, is the principle of fraternal solidarity. He said this unity appears most clearly in exceptional periods, when GCC countries stand together and strengthen the resilience of the wider Gulf home.

Against this regional backdrop, Dr Gargash highlighted the special place of UAE-Kuwait relations. He said directives by the UAE leadership to dedicate a full week across all emirates to celebrate ties with Kuwait, under the slogan "UAE and Kuwait… Brothers Forever", show the UAE’s deep appreciation for Kuwait’s steady, balanced positions and the stance of the Kuwaiti people.

Dr Gargash described the UAE–Kuwait relationship as a standout model based on a shared destiny and aligned positions. He said the celebration sends a clear message of gratitude for Kuwait’s principled policies, and stressed that the UAE highly values the loyalty and cohesion shown by Kuwait and its citizens, especially during difficult and exceptional circumstances for the region.

The remarks came during a session titled "A Strategic Partnership and Brotherhood Forever", moderated by Kuwaiti broadcaster Khalifa Al Muzain. The session formed part of the UAE–Kuwaiti Media Forum, held within UAE–Kuwait Relations Week, which commenced on Thursday across the UAE. Dr Gargash used the platform to recall historic events and his personal experiences linked to Kuwait.

Dr Gargash affirmed that Kuwait and its people hold a special place in the heart of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He recalled the President’s position during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, when His Highness travelled to visit UAE forces stationed there, supporting their morale and encouraging steadfastness and resolve in the face of aggression.

Reflecting on his own visits to Kuwait before and after the invasion, Dr Gargash remembered vivid scenes during the post-invasion phase. He described Kuwait as a country with strong will, able to recover and regain vitality. He attributed this recovery to the wisdom of the Kuwaiti leadership and the determination of the Kuwaiti people to rebuild national life.

Dr Gargash also reviewed key stages in Kuwait’s modern development since independence in 1961. He said Kuwait’s deep historical roots, cultural life and intellectual revival helped the country navigate severe tests with strength. These factors, he noted, enabled Kuwait to handle crises while maintaining national cohesion and contributing actively to regional and international affairs.

On foreign policy, Dr Gargash praised Kuwait’s diplomatic style and the prudence of its leadership. He said he is proud of opportunities for close discussions with Kuwaiti leaders, which allowed deeper understanding of their regional and international views. These perspectives, he noted, helped strengthen Kuwait’s status as an active and influential player within the international community.

Economic ties were another focus. Dr Gargash underlined the strong and historic brotherhood between the two states and their peoples, which has remained firm over time and, in his view, will continue. He pointed to expanding trade and economic cooperation between the UAE and Kuwait, and called for more investment, joint ventures and wider private-sector involvement, both bilaterally and within the broader GCC framework.

Looking at the GCC’s internal progress, Dr Gargash highlighted achievements such as the foundations of a common Gulf market and easier movement for citizens among member countries. He said these steps reflect a high level of integration and express the idea of Gulf citizenship in practical form. For Dr Gargash, such integration complements the deep bilateral ties seen in UAE-Kuwait relations.
