UAE's Karim Abdulaev Faces Bulgarian Champion in Baku Grand Slam 2024

The Baku Grand Slam 2024, a prestigious event in the judo calendar, is set to commence tomorrow, with athletes from across the globe converging in Baku, Azerbaijan, for a chance to showcase their skills and earn qualification points for the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. Among the participants are members of the UAE National Judo Team, including Karim Abdulaev and Batsukh Altantsetseg, representing the United Arab Emirates in this highly competitive tournament.

Organised under the auspices of the International Judo Federation, the tournament will see 407 judokas from 64 nations, including regional representatives from Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, vying for top honours from 16th to 18th February. Meanwhile, Altantsetseg's journey in the tournament began today with a challenging match against Christa Deguchi, a top-ranked Canadian athlete and a formidable opponent in her weight division.

The Baku Grand Slam 2024 not only serves as a vital stepping stone towards Olympic qualification but also boasts a total prize pool of €154,000. This substantial sum underscores the tournament's significance within the judo community and its role in fostering competitive excellence among its participants.
