UAE and Jordan Discuss Enhancing Parliamentary Ties for Mutual Progress
During an official visit to Jordan, the Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council, Saqr Ghobash, alongside his Jordanian counterpart, Ahmed Safadi, Speaker of the Jordanian Lower House of Parliament, engaged in pivotal discussions. Their dialogue centered on reinforcing the strong historical connections between the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, a relationship deeply rooted in the legacy of the late King Hussein bin Talal and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The talks underscored an enhanced bilateral coordination based on mutual respect and a shared vision for advancing the welfare of their nations. Both leaders emphasized the critical need for halting hostilities in the Gaza Strip and championing the two-state solution to ensure the rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to an independent state.

Furthering their commitment to collaborative parliamentary efforts and aligning positions in Arab and international forums were also key topics. Ghobash praised King Abdullah II's efforts in highlighting the situation in Gaza and the Palestinian territories, calling for an immediate ceasefire and aid delivery to Gaza. He acknowledged Jordan's significant role despite political and economic hurdles.
The alignment of Jordanian and Emirati positions on advocating for peace through a two-state solution was reiterated. Ghobash highlighted the strength of the Jordanian-Emirati relationship under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and King Abdullah II. He noted that reciprocal visits like these are crucial for bolstering parliamentary cooperation and advancing common goals.
Safadi echoed this sentiment, reaffirming King Abdullah II's support for the Palestinian cause and stressing the importance of ceasing hostilities in Gaza. He lauded the UAE's support across various sectors, emphasizing the inseparability of their security and stability. Safadi called for enhanced parliamentary cooperation and strategic relations for mutual benefit.
This meeting marks a significant step in further strengthening the ties between Jordan and the UAE, focusing on peace initiatives in the region and enhancing bilateral relations for the prosperity of their peoples.
