UAE, Jordan Officials Discuss Grave Impact Of Al-Aqsa Mosque Storming

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, discussed the serious consequences of the recent storming and violations at Al Aqsa Mosque by Israeli extremists.

During a phone call, both ministers condemned the provocative visit by radical minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. They described this action as a severe escalation that could lead to increased violence in the region.

Al-Aqsa Mosque Storming Discussed

The ministers discussed coordinated steps to confront these violations. They aimed to establish an international stance demanding respect for Jerusalem's historical and legal status.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah stressed the importance of respecting Jordan's custodial role over Jerusalem's holy sites. He emphasised not compromising the authority of the Jerusalem Endowment Administration that manages Al Aqsa Mosque.

His Highness expressed UAE’s full solidarity with Jordan’s measures to protect religious sites. He highlighted the need to preserve these sites' significance.

The ministers called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. They urged adherence to international law and an end to illegal practices in Occupied Palestinian Territory.

Mediation Efforts

Both ministers reiterated their support for mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States. They aimed to reach an exchange agreement through these efforts.

"We must respect the custodial role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan over Jerusalem's holy sites," H.H. Sheikh Abdullah stated.

"This action is a serious escalation that threatens rising levels of violence," both ministers affirmed regarding Ben-Gvir's visit.

The conversation underscored the need for international cooperation to address these issues effectively. The ministers agreed on taking joint steps to ensure peace and stability in the region.
