UAE Participates In Key Energy Security Meeting In Baku With Global Leaders

In a significant move to bolster international energy cooperation, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, the UAE's Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, led a high-level delegation to the Republic of Azerbaijan. The delegation's primary objective was to participate in the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council and the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council. These pivotal meetings were inaugurated by Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and saw participation from ministers of energy, oil and gas, senior officials, and government representatives from 23 countries, alongside over 10 international organisations and 44 companies.

During his opening address, President Aliyev highlighted the SGC as a beacon of success, having been operational for three years. He underscored its critical role in enhancing Eurasia's energy security and fostering cooperation among participating nations. The SGC stands as one of Eurasia's key infrastructure projects, pivotal in promoting energy security across the region.

On the sidelines of these meetings, Al Mazrouei engaged in discussions with key Azerbaijani officials including Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the UAE-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission on Economy, Trade and Technical Cooperation, and Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy. These discussions centered on bolstering cooperation across various sectors such as economic development, energy, renewable energy, and energy security.

Al Mazrouei emphasized the profound and multifaceted relationship between the UAE and Azerbaijan, which extends beyond mere trade and economic ties. He noted that this partnership is supported by both nations' leaderships and is anchored in a mutual vision for a future powered by renewable energy and sustainable development. This vision underscores the commitment of both countries to advancing their cooperation in fields critical to global energy security and sustainability.

The UAE delegation comprised senior officials from government agencies and the private sector. Notable participants included representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Masdar (the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), ADNOC (the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company), and TAQA (Abu Dhabi National Energy Company). This diverse representation underscores the UAE's comprehensive approach to international energy cooperation, highlighting its commitment to fostering partnerships that promote sustainable development and renewable energy initiatives.
