UAE Jiu-Jitsu National Team To Compete In Nine Major Championships Throughout 2025
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation has unveiled the 2025 competition schedule for its national team, backed by Mubadala Investment Company. The team will compete in nine events from February to November, covering regional, continental, and international stages across various age groups.
The Asian Youth Championships in Thailand will launch the continental season from 13th to 15th February. Competitions will be held for under-14, under-16, and under-18 categories. Following this, the team will travel to Jordan for the 9th Jiu-Jitsu Asian Championship from 23rd to 25th May. This event is for adults and under-21 athletes aiming to maintain their dominance in Asia.

In Bahrain, the UAE will participate in the JJAU Regional Championship for West Asia on 24th and 25th July. This includes categories for under-14, under-16, under-18, under-21, and adults. The team will also compete in the 3rd Asian Youth Games (AYG) from 22nd to 31st October, focusing on the under-18 category.
On an international level, the Grand Prix Paris Open in France is scheduled for adults on 26th and 27th April. This is followed by the Grand Prix Thailand Open in Bangkok from 19th to 21st June. These Grand Prix events are vital for enhancing the UAE's global ranking and positioning for the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship draw.
The World Games in Chengdu, China, from 10th to 12th August will be a major highlight for adult competitors. The team aims to replicate its success from the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, where they secured five medals including two historic golds.
Season Finale
The season wraps up with the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Thailand from 1st to 15th November. This event covers all age groups: under-14, under-16, under-18, under-21, and seniors. Following this championship are the Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia on 17th and 18th November.
Fahad Ali Al Shamsi of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation stated that their national team is a strong contender at various levels. "Our national team enters these events as a strong contender for titles," he said. "The year 2025...will build on our national team's legacy of achievements."
With robust support from leadership providing necessary resources, UAE athletes have achieved top global rankings. The upcoming championships aim to continue this trend while inspiring future generations of athletes through their performances on these prestigious platforms.
