Reem Ketait, Deputy Assistant Minister for Political Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Iwamoto Keiichi, Director-General of the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau at Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the event.
Both nations highlighted their strong relationship, which is based on shared strategic interests and historical ties. They also noted that regular high-level visits have further strengthened these bonds. A key focus was on finalising the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) promptly.

The discussions explored ways to enhance cooperation in vital sectors such as economy, space, advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. Both sides expressed a commitment to working together within multilateral forums to achieve these goals. They aim to support stability, prosperity, and sustainable development for both countries and their citizens.
Regional and international developments were also on the agenda. The delegations exchanged views on issues affecting the Middle East and Asia. They stressed their mutual dedication to international peace and security. Dialogue and diplomacy were highlighted as essential tools for resolving conflicts and addressing regional challenges.
There was a strong emphasis on protecting civilians in conflict zones. Both parties agreed on ensuring safe, sustained humanitarian access to those in need, particularly in areas like Gaza and Sudan. Regular consultations will continue to advance shared objectives and support national growth.
After the subcommittee meeting, Reem Ketait met with Onishi Yohei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs.
